New Cut Walk
Friends of Avon New Cut (FrANC) are organising a Botanical Walk along the New Cut on Sunday 25th June.
Bristol Orienteering
On Sunday 11th June Merchants Landing will feature as part of an urban orienteering event organised by Bristol Orienteering Klub.
Crane 29
Crane 29 – a one-bedroom ‘treehouse’ conversion of the crane next to Prince Street Bridge – is expected to open this summer. The conversion is the idea of glamping holiday specialist Canopy & Stars.
Prince Street Bridge
The 138-year-old Prince Street bridge was closed in August 2015. We were told that the bridge would be closed for six months.
BBC studio tour
On Saturday 18th February, seventeen Merchants Landing residents enjoyed a tour of the BBC studios in Bristol.
Redcliffe Skyline
Planning permission has been granted to Change Real Estate’s proposals for land bounded by Redcliff Street, St Thomas Street and Three Queens Lane. The redevelopment is to provide 274 residential dwellings, a 186-bed hotel, cafés and restaurants, a food hall and office space.
Concern over barge move
Writing on behalf of the Commodore and Committee of the Cabot Cruising Club, a number of residents of Bathurst Parade and various boat owners, Jan Walsh has written to City Planners about an implication of the proposed O & M Shed development on Welsh Back.
FOBB campaign
Friends of Bathurst Basin (FOBB) are very concerned about proposals to build a block of flats in the railway cutting alongside Guinea Street.
Chemical spillage
Merchants Quay was closed to pedestrians at the Prince Street entry because of a ‘chemical spillage’.
2019 Bristol Half-Marathon
The Bristol Half-Marathon will take place on Sunday 15th September 2019 and it will again involve road closures close to Merchants Landing.
New cycle stands
For the fitter Landing residents and their fit friends and family, new bicycle stands have been installed behind Byzantine Court.
Forthcoming Lightship Theatre presentation
Theatre Company will present Checkpoint by Saito Hawkins at the John Sebastian’s Lightship Theatre on Sunday July 28th.
Harbour Festival 19th-21st July 2019
Following the problems during last year’s Harbour Festival, the Amenities Company directors met with Richmond Event Management to discuss security around Merchants Landing during this year’s festival.
