Forthcoming Lightship Theatre presentation
Theatre Company will present Checkpoint by Saito Hawkins at the John Sebastian’s Lightship Theatre on Sunday July 28th.
Harbour Festival 19th-21st July 2019
Following the problems during last year’s Harbour Festival, the Amenities Company directors met with Richmond Event Management to discuss security around Merchants Landing during this year’s festival.
Friends of Bathurst Basin
A new community group, Friend of Bathurst Basin, has been set following a recent meeting with Councillors Paul Smith and Kye Dudd.
Swing bridge closure
The swing bridge at the harbour entrance to Bathurst Basin will be closed for one week from Monday 20th to Saturday 25th May.
Tour of Suspension Bridge vaults
On a blustery and cold April Saturday, a group of hardy Merchants Landing residents went on a guided tour of the Clifton Suspension Bridge vaults.
Falling Masonry
Temporary fencing has been erected in the walkway between Byzantine Court and Trin Mills due to an issue with the parapet on Byzantine Court.
Dredging the Harbour
Dredging operations currently underway in Bathurst Basin are in addition to regular scouring work. Both keep the harbour navigable.
Lightship Theatre
Lightship Theatre is, in the words of Briony Pope its organizer, an ‘extra name’ for the John Sebastian. But the theatre is more than a second name.
High-tide overflow
A high spring tide, made even higher by low atmospheric pressure, caused water from the New Cut (River Avon) to overflow into Bathurst Basin.

Cumberland Road closed
Cumberland Road is closed in both directions close to the caravan park entrance. A water-main burst and a section of the New Cut wall has collapsed.
Ostrich Inn improvements
Butcombe Brewing Company is investing heavily in the Grade II-listed Ostrich Inn following its purchase by them towards the end of 2017.
Cumberland Road developments
Bristol City Council are planning to strengthen the weak section of the Chocolate Path in the summer and this will require them to close Cumberland Road to east-bound traffic.
